Mythica Kats

Text Box: I started showing cats in 2008. We received our first OSH, a neutered blue eyed white boy in 2008. Because of him, Triscuit, I fell in love with the breed and haven’t looked back since! He is everything you would want from a cat, outgoing, vocal, healthy, playful and extremely loving to EVERYONE, he knows no stranger! I decided shortly after receiving this fine boy to show and breed OSH’s.
We are a small cattery in Northern Kentucky. We are dedicated to improving the breed standard as established by CFA, TICA and other associations.
All cats and kittens are raised lovingly underfoot. A lot of time, energy, effort and money goes into the care, raising and showing of our animals. We love them dearly and are very passionate about the health, safety, type, temperament, conformation and welfare of not just our animals but all animals.
All our cats are at a minimum registered with CFA. We try to show at least once a month, twice if we are lucky. If ever interested in attending a show please do not hesitate to contact us!
In 2010 we added a beautiful Red Colorpoint male to our program. He has changed my views on having a OSH only program and have decided to add CPSH’s to the Cattery. In an attempt to keep this breed going in CFA we are deciding to add a CPSH program to our OSH program.
There are two types of registries in the cat fancy. One being based on genetic type of the cat and one being based on looks of the cat. CFA is based on the genetic type of the cat, if the cat is from an OSH parent then the offspring will ALWAYS be an OSH. However in a registry like TICA, who is based on looks, if it looks like a Siamese, it is a Siamese even if one of the parents are an OSH. TICA does not have Color Point Shorthairs, but Red Pointed Siamese., Lynx Pointed Siamese, Toritie Pointed Siamese. In CFA these cats would be called Colorpoint Shorthairs. The foundation for all the Slinkie breeds is the Siamese.
CFA recognizes 4 colors for the Siamese, seal blue chocolate and lilac. Then comes Colorpoint Shorthairs which add more color options with red and lynx point for a total of 16 colors. After that we have the OSH’s which was created to explore ALL the colors available to this wonderful breed of cat with over 300+ color options.
It can be confusing and overwhelming, but to make things simple my website is geared towards CFA’s Standards for several reasons. The main one being I have more access to CFA shows than TICA .
If you would like more detailed info on the differences between CFA and TICA here is a good website I have found helpful myself , click here for website.
In my short time in this Fancy I have meet a lot of wonderful people who are passionate about breeding and showing. Opinions of what is right and wrong for each breed can be strong, however we are as a majority committed to improving all the wonderful breeds that CFA recognizes and having fun is always a must!!!
